Project History

2003 - Avail was awarded a contract by Metro Transit for an “Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Development Plan” for Metro’s fixed route and paratransit operations. Avail used our unique approach by being the Single Point of Responsibility for all goods and services required by Metro Transit. In the second step of this process, detailed specifications were developed and Avail managed the procurement process for the Metro Transit selected group of technologies. In the final phase, or Step 3, of the project Avail is integrating the OmniPoint suite of products, training the users and providing long term support of the system. The ITS technologies include CAD/AVL, data communications, mobile data terminals, automatic passenger counters, annunciators, customer information devices and a management information system for the fixed route fleet.
