RTEC provides community transportation services in rural Southeast Kentucky and currently operates a fleet of approximately 180 demand response vehicles and approximately 30 contracted fleet vehicles. RTEC is also the broker for human service transportation within their region.

2003 – RTEC awarded Avail a contract for a three-phased deployment of a mobile data system for their paratransit fleet to integrate with RTEC’s existing Versyss TransView Scheduling System. The first project phase was a three vehicle proof of concept utilizing a CDPD public data network. Avail successfully completed the proof of concept in July 2003 and was put under contract to commence with the final two phases, a thirty vehicle and a 110 vehicle rollout. The final system solution utilizes a GPRS public data network. The phase one deployment was successfully completed in October 2004, with the final deployment and system acceptance completed in 2005.
2004 – RTEC contracted with Avail to oversee the acquisition and integration of a Safety Vision Road Recorder 6000 digital video security camera system in six vehicles. Avail added an additional thirteen vehicles to the system under a subsequent contract in 2005.
2005 – RTEC expanded the system with the purchase of an additional fifteen vehicles
2006 – RTEC has once again contracted with Avail to expand their system with the addition of approximately thirty RTEC vehicles and the incorporation of the technology into thirty vehicles operated and owned by RTEC’s subcontractors. Avail is also providing Program Management and Engineering services for the addition of important enhancements to the TransView system with TranSched (formerly Versyss) under subcontract to Avail.
