2001 - Avail Technologies, Inc. was awarded the project to install a complete “Turn-Key” solution to Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky (TANK) for a Computer Aided Dispatching (CAD) and Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) System for their fleet of fixed route, demand response, shuttle and maintenance vehicles. The CAD/AVL system is based on the Orbital TMS OrbCAD-NT fleet management system including the Orbital TMS SmartMDT in-vehicle equipment, which provides integrated voice and data communications/control and vehicle alarm monitoring through discrete alarm sensors. The system utilizes data communications with the vehicles through a multi-site simulcast infrastructure. The OrbCAD-NT system integrates with the Motorola Centracom Elite hardware to provide two way Data Message Communications, One-Way Voice Communications, Two-Way Voice Communications, Emergency Alarm Communications, Voice Fallback Communications, and Voice Talk-Around Modes, all of which are controlled through the OrbCAD-NT dispatchers console. The installed TANK system also includes an interface to the StrataGen ADEPT CAD system used for demand response services. This interface allows the demand response system to send manifest data, cancellation and change requests, and allow the collection of trip status and completion information from the demand response vehicles through the OrbCAD-NT system.
