BCT provides public transportation services to Battle Creek area residents and currently operates a mixed fleet of approximately 17 fixed route buses and 11 paratransit vehicles.

1999 – BCT awarded Avail a contract to evaluate the present state of technology at BCT and then to act as the systems integrators for this technology plan. Avail began with the initial review BCT’s existing technologies, procedures, services, and practices. Avail then completed the needs assessment portion of the project and after identifying those need’s began the task of outlining BCT’s procurement specifications and development of the RFP, guiding BCT through the entire procurement process. The result of this effort was BCT’s selection of Trapeze’s PASS Computer Aided Reservation, Scheduling, and Dispatching System and Mentor Engineering Mobile Data System including XGate and Mobile Data Computers (MDC) to be interfaced to a City Motorola DataTAC digital data network. Avail served as the system integrator bringing together the Trapeze PASS and FX software, Motorola DataTAC digital data network, and Mentor Engineering Mobile Data Terminals and AVL. What makes Avail unique is that BCT maintained one contract with Avail so that we were their single point of contact and we were the system integrator responsible for successfully integrating these technologies into BCT’s operation. The system is fully operational and Avail continues to provide long term warranty and support of the system to BCT.
