CDTA provides a range of service, including local, limited stop-express, park & ride and suburban shuttle service. In addition to regular route service, CDTA provides rural bus service to a number of communities in the service area. CDTA currently operates a fleet of 245 fixed route buses, 62 vans, and 44 service vehicles.

Project History

2001 - CDTA hired Avail Technologies, Inc. to provide technical guidance and installation oversight for their new Mobile Data Acquisition system. The system provides CDTA with fleet-wide communications, AVL, automatic annunciators and passenger counters, and electronic wayside signage. The system contract was awarded to INIT of Chesapeake, VA. Avail has assisted CDTA’s project team in technical and management reviews, with monitoring and controlling interfaces, and system testing.

2003 - Avail performed data preparation, which included validating CDTA bus stop inventory that is currently maintained under the HASTUS scheduling package. NiCAD developed the RFP Specification for this system.
