Avail customer since 2001
BARTA’s mission is to provide safe, efficient, convenient and dependable transportation to the people of Berks County and currently operates a mixed fleet consisting of approximately 55 fixed route buses, 35 paratransit vehicles and 2 trolleys.
- Traveler Information System - provides Transportation Center passengers with real-time arrival and departure information via electronic signage and public audio announcements
- Intelli-Fare - provides farebox ridership and revenue reporting, data mining, and analysis for operational personnel
2001 – BARTA awarded Avail the contract to install our Traveler Information System (TIS) as a part of their construction of a new downtown Transportation Center. This system provides passengers with real-time arrival, departure, and bay information via electronic signage and public audio announcements throughout the Transportation Center. In addition to directing the arriving and departing passengers to the correct bay, this system also records all activity and provides a management console that allows staff to monitor live activity at the Transportation Center from the main office location, as well as provide reports of on-time arrival and departure information for assessment of operational performance.
2002 - BARTA uses Avail’s Intelli-Fare software product to help them get the most out of the vast amount of data being collected by their GFI electronic farebox collection system. BARTA operates GFI Odyssey Fareboxes with TRiM ticketing units and the Data System 7 backend. Avail’s Intelli-Fare provides extensive exception capabilities to make the data more accurate, then makes this data easily accessible providing user friendly yet powerful ridership and revenue reporting, data mining, and analysis tools for management and operational personnel.
