EMTA provides public transportation to the citizens of Erie County and currently operates a mixed fleet of approximately 70 fixed route vehicles, 50 paratransit vans, and 6 trolleys.

2003 – EMTA contracted with Avail to take advantage of our extensive knowledge of fare collection to assist them when they were faced with the decision of upgrading or replacing their existing fare collection system. Avail worked closely with EMTA staff to carefully evaluate their needs and long term goals and weighed this against the funding they had available to apply to new farebox technology. With providing more fare payment options for their customers as a priority as well as maximizing their existing investment, the end result of our effort was to refurbish their existing Cents-a-Bill fareboxes but upgrade them with TRiM ticketing units and magnetic stripe card readers, and replacing their outdated DOS backend with a modern Windows System 7 backend.
2003 – EMTA uses Avail’s Intelli-Fare software product to help them get the most out of the vast amount of data being collected by their GFI electronic farebox collection system. EMTA operates GFI Cents-a-Bill Fareboxes with TRiM ticketing units and the Data System 7 backend. Avail’s Intelli-Fare provides extensive exception capabilities to make the data more accurate, then makes this data easily accessible providing user friendly yet powerful ridership and revenue reporting, data mining, and analysis tools for management and operational personnel.
