RADAR currently operates approximately 40 vehicles, providing Demand Response services. RADAR is a non-profit corporation, which has provided rural public transit services and specialized transit primarily in the "Greater Roanoke Valley" for over 25 years.

2002 - Avail was contracted to follow the same approach that is finding great acceptance through the industry – Needs Assessment, Design, Implementation, and follow-on support. The difference is the fact that RADAR provides all demand response and contracted service in and around the greater Roanoke area, where the majority of other property service is fixed route based with a smaller demand response element. During the first phase this project, Avail worked with RADAR to document their operational issues and identify not only technologies to help address these issues, but operational changes as well. During the second phase of this project, Avail developed detailed specifications and managed the procurement process for paratransit scheduling software. RADAR selected the call taking/scheduling dispatching software they felt best fit their needs and retained Avail to provide project management to oversee the deployment of the software and ensure it was successfully integrated into RADAR’s daily operations.
2004 - The result of the initial effort was the selection of RouteMatch's TS Computer Aided Reservation, Scheduling, and Dispatching software. The software was installed and has been successfully operating since.
2006 - Avail is currently under contract to proceed with the next phase of technologies which are to include a dedicated radio communications infrastructure and a mobile data computer system to enable Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) and electronic transfer of manifest and trip completion data to and from the vehicle fleet.
